Lift Station And Pump Level Control
Source: Endress+Hauser, Inc.

In wastewater collection systems, raw sewage flows through gravity sewers to lift stations, which transfer the waste from lower elevation to higher elevations and eventually to a treatment plant.
Pumps are typically installed below the lowest point of the incoming sewer pipe. When the wastewater level reaches a critical point, a control system starts one or more pumps to prevent raw sewage from overflowing the well which could contaminate ground water or flow into local rivers and streams. A reliable and accurate level monitoring system is absolutely critical to the overall performance of the lift station.
