Learn How Polyaluminium Chloride Treats Alcohol Wastewater

Alcohol is mainly produced from starchy raw materials, waste molasses raw materials, etc., which will produce a large amount of wastewater. The water quality of these wastewaters is relatively complex, with characteristics such as high temperature, high concentration, and high suspended matter. It is relatively complicated to treat. Polyaluminium chloride is a magic weapon for alcohol wastewater treatment.

Alcohol factory wastewater has the following characteristics:

1. High suspended solids content, with an average suspended solids content of up to 40,000 mg/L;
2. High temperature, with an average water temperature of 70°C, and the temperature of wastewater discharged from the bottom of the distillation kettle as high as 100°C;
3. High concentration, with COD of wastewater as high as 20,000-30,000, including suspended solids, soluble COD and colloids, organic matter accounts for 93%-94%, and inorganic matter accounts for 6%-7%. The components of organic matter are carbohydrates, followed by nitrogen-containing compounds, biological bacteria and undecomposed products: such as butanol, ethanol, etc., in addition to 500 mg/L of organic acids;
4. The wastewater contains about 500 mg/L of organic acids, and the wastewater is acidic. In the initial operation, alkali or sludge reflux can be considered to balance the pH of the wastewater. After stable operation, the system has sufficient buffering capacity, and no alkali or reflux is required;
5. Inorganic matter mainly comes from dust and impurities in the raw materials.

When treating alcohol wastewater, the suspended solids should be filtered out first, and then polyaluminium chloride solution should be added. Polyaluminium chloride has good activity and is easily soluble in water. It can overcome the influence of high temperature, adsorb and remove COD, BOD and other substances in the water, has good filterability and good decolorization performance. The treated water quality meets the reuse water standard and can be discharged with confidence.‌
