As part of India’s Jal Jeevan Mission—a nationwide initiative to provide safe, piped drinking water to every rural household by 2024—the Rajghat multivillage rural water supply scheme stands out as a transformative project. Serving 1,573 villages across the Guna and Ashok Nagar districts of Madhya Pradesh, the scheme aims to bring clean, reliable drinking water to over 290,000 homes and positively impact the lives of nearly 2.5 million people.

L&T Construction was awarded the contract to design and build the expansive infrastructure needed to make this vision a reality. The project includes treating 189.28 million liters of raw water daily and distributing it through a 7,890-kilometer pipeline network. It also involves the installation of 698 overhead tanks, extensive pumping systems, millions of household connections, and the integration of a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system to monitor water quality and quantity over a 10-year operation period.

“This project will enable sustainable health through good quality drinking water, thereby impacting the living standard of local communities,” said Sudripta Misra of L&T Construction.
