KSB Releases Proven, Versatile Submersible Pump - Amarex N

Versatility for diverse applications
The Amarex N pump is available in eight models to fit a variety of applications, such as:

Grinder pumps with 2 inch discharge and featuring KSB's S-type impeller macerate and grind solids that come into contact with the pump, easily carrying them through the pump for discharge.

Vortex pumps employ KSB's F-type impeller with discharge sizes ranging from 2-inch to 4-inch. The 3-inch and 4-inch discharge sizes prevent clogging and are particularly suited to municipal applications. The smaller models are an excellent fit for residential applications.

In addition, the pumps are suitable for stationary wet-well installations (guide cable or guide rails) or portable installations.

A submersible pump with safety in mind
KSB has included features specifically designed to ensure the safety of the pump and its users.

A reusable and polarized cable entry plug makes maintenance easy. There is no need to open the motor to remove the plug for transport or maintenance. Individual connectors are stripped and soldered individually, then sealed in epoxy. The outer cable jacket is sealed by a compressed rubber grommet flanked by two washers.

This design ensures that the cable is not only accessible, but prevents water from entering the motor housing through capillary action. Even if the cable is completely cut underwater, no damage will occur to the motor.

The Amarex N motors are also explosion proof as standard version. They are approved by Factory Mutual (FM) for Class I, Division 1, Group C & D continuous duty cycles. The motor design prevents sparking and possible explosions in wet-well conditions in which gases are present. Additionally, all motors are suitable for operation with Variable Frequency Drives.

Making maintenance easier and more affordable
KSB creates pumps with easy maintenance in mind. Bearings are lubricated for life and the motor casing and discharge volute are cast as a single piece, which means fewer parts requiring routine maintenance.

In addition, single-voltage motors eliminate the need to open the motor to change voltage, avoiding mistakes in the field. And all models are designed to use interchangeable spare parts, such as gaskets, mechanical seals and bearings. This means that organizations can reduce the inventory of spare parts kits that they keep on hand.

The Amarex N features an air-filled motor and double mechanical seals in an environmentally friendly oil chamber. All Amarex N models come with KSB's stainless steel Type 420 shaft for long service life and to easily handle fluids with abrasive or corrosive characteristics. All pumps are fitted with motor winding temperature protection and moisture sensor to enhance motor service life. KSB can also customize pumps for more extreme conditions by enhancing features such as cable quality, coatings and mechanical seals.

Models featuring vortex impellers are also available in special materials of construction targeted to handle demanding municipal or industrial wastewater applications.
