Wilmington, MA (June 15, 2003) - Answering today's critical needs for potable water technology delivering increased output at lower costs in smaller spaces, Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. is unveiling its newest innovation, a unique 10-inch diameter ultrafiltration hollow fiber cartridge at the 2003 AWWA Exposition in Anaheim, CA.
Evolving from the widely installed KMS 8-inch cartridge, this new KMS 10-inch cartridge contains 60 percent more membrane area and provides 60% more product water per cartridge than its 8-inch predecessor. Koch Membrane Systems polysulfone hollow fibers have been in use in municipal plants across the United States and around the world for more than a decade.
The innovative KMS 10-inch cartridge can reduce system floor space requirements up to 50%, depending on flow demand and stage design. This will lower building costs significantly on a per gallon basis. For added economy, these 10-inch cartridges result in a smaller system size, requiring fewer valves and pumps, which saves on capital equipment costs.
The new KMS 10-inch cartridges from Koch Membrane Systems are available in two high area, cost-saving sizes: a 48-inch long model containing 550 square feet of membrane, and a 72-inch long model containing 870 square feet of membrane. These ultrafiltration membranes have a nominal 100,000 molecular weight cut-off for better than 4-log removal of cryptosporidium, giardia, and viruses. They can accept a pH range of 1.5 to 13, and can tolerate up to 200 ppm chlorine during the cleaning cycle.
