Jazan Emir Launches And Lays Foundation Stone For 73 Regional Water And Sanitation Projects At SR +4.7B

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Jazan region, today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 73 environmental, water, and agricultural projects worth more than 4.7 billion Saudi Riyals in the presence of the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, at the main conference hall of the Emirate.

During the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony, HRH the Emir expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, may God Protect them,  on the occasion of  inaugurating and laying the foundation stones of these projects. They include the inauguration of 27 sanitation, water and agricultural projects that worth more than 2. 7 billion Saudi Riyals and laying the foundation stone for 46 projects of environmental, water and agricultural system in the region costing more than 2.7 billion Saudi Riyals. All these is done to support the realization of environmental, water and agricultural sustainability and improve the services provided to citizens according to the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

HRH stressed the importance of implementing such service and development projects in the fields of environment, water, agriculture and other development projects implemented and being implemented in Jazan and other regions of the Kingdom. The projects are to provide citizens and residents with the means of a decent life and all that provides comfort and well-being for all, in accordance with the directives of the leadership and in realization of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

For his part, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture said that the inaugurated projects include two projects implemented by the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), namely the project to replace technology and assets with end-of-life (Shuqaiq 1), and the project of integrated security systems at Shuqaiq desalination plant and water transport systems at a cost of more than 1. 3 billion Saudi Riyals. The National Water Company (NWC) implemented 20 projects to provide water and sanitation services in Jazan region at a cost of more than 607 million Saudi Riyals, including 10 projects to provide water services at a cost of more than 238 million Saudi Riyals, including the project to implement raw water intake at Wadi Jazan Dam, the project to complete civil, mechanical, and electrical works at pumping stations in different governorates, the project to implement internal networks and connections in the city of Al-Raith, and the project to implement internal networks and connections in the city of Al-Reith, the project to implement raw water intake at the dam of Wadi Damad, the project to implement lines connecting wells and pumping units for wells in Wadi Bish, the project to complete drinking water networks in the villages of Ahad Al-Masarha Governorate (Phase I), the project to complete horizontal drilling, the project to supply and install flow meters for water sources, the quick-gains project to supply water to mountainous areas, and the project to connect water services to develop the Deportation Department.

The minister informed that the sewage projects inaugurated by HRH the Emir of Jazan Region amounted to 10 projects at a cost of more than SR 369 million, including the expansion of the sewage treatment plant (STP) in the city of Jazan with a capacity of 44,000 cubic meters per day, the implementation of sewage networks in the city of Abu Arish (Phase I) and the implementation of the sewage treatment plant in the governorate of Farsan with a capacity of 3,500 cubic meters per day, in addition to the implementation of the main pumping station and parcel line project in the city of Damad, The project of connecting the sewage ponds to the sewage network, the project of supplying, installing and operating an integrated sewage treatment plant in Fifa, the project of transferring the integrated stations from Samta governorate to Al-Darb governorate, the project of implementing the overflow line in the sewage treatment plant in Jazan, the project of implementing the overflow line and pumping station in the sewage treatment plant in Al-Aidabi, and the project of connecting sewage services to develop the Deportation Department.

He pointed out that the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification has implemented 3 projects at a cost of about 48 million Saudi Riyals, including the completion of two projects to produce and plant mangroves south of the Red Sea in Al-Sawarmah and Al-Turathiya, respectively. The Deputy Ministry of Agriculture completed the implementation of two projects at a cost of more than SR 3 million, including the completion of the establishment and securing of the insect breeding laboratory and the pesticide sensitivity assessment laboratory in Jazan, and the completion of the project to operate the laboratory for chemical analysis of agricultural products.

The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture said that the projects for which His Highness the Emir of Jazan laid the foundation stone today include 46 development projects that will serve the region at a total cost of more than 2.7 billion Saudi Riyals, including 3 projects to be implemented by the Saudi Water Authority (SWA) at a cost of more than 1.2 billion Saudi Riyals and 19 projects to be implemented by the National Water Company (NWC) at a total cost of more than 1.5 billion Saudi Riyals. In addition, the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program will implement 19 projects in the region at a cost of more than 184 million Saudi Riyals, the National Center for Vegetation Development and Desertification Control will implement a project at a cost of about 10 million Saudi Riyals, the Ministry of Agriculture will implement a project at a cost of more than 2 million riyals, and the Deputy Ministry of Water will implement a project at a cost of more than (6) million riyals.

He stressed that these quality projects were implemented according to the best practical practices and technical expertise to reflect the work of the environment, water and agriculture system, in accordance with the national strategies set to implement the Kingdom's ambitious Vision 2030, and reflect the keenness of the country's leadership to provide all means for a decent life for its citizens and residents.

On the sidelines of the ceremony for inauguration and laying of the foundation stone of the environment, water and agriculture projects, HRH the Emir witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Jazan University in the field of research and a poultry breeding project with a company specialized in poultry breeding.​
