IUVA Announces Program For 2026 Americas Conference In Halifax

Leading ultraviolet technology experts will examine the breakthroughs, barriers and real-world decisions shaping the future of water treatment, healthier indoor environments and advanced oxidation.

The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) has announced the technical program for the 2026 IUVA Americas Conference, taking place October 5–7, 2026, at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The conference will bring together researchers, engineers, utilities, technology developers, public health experts, and end users to explore how ultraviolet technologies are moving from promising research and pilot projects into scalable, reliable, and economically viable solutions.

Across three days of concurrent technical sessions, attendees will engage with some of the most important questions facing the UV community. How will UV-C LEDs transform the design and economics of water treatment? What will it take to move Far-UVC and germicidal UV from compelling evidence to widespread adoption? How can standards, validation, and monitoring keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies? And how can UV-based advanced oxidation address increasingly difficult contaminants and treatment challenges?

The program will connect emerging science with the practical realities of implementation. Presentations will examine what field experience is revealing in water and wastewater facilities, hospitals, long-term care communities, schools, offices, and other real-world environments. Attendees will also hear how advances in reactor design, modeling, sensors, materials, and system controls are improving performance, reliability, and confidence at scale.

Additional discussions will address the evolving regulatory landscape, the transition toward mercury-free technologies, system maintenance and fouling, decentralized and humanitarian water treatment, and the expanding use of UV in food, industrial and specialized applications.

More than a presentation of research findings, the conference will provide a forum for the conversations that determine whether promising technologies succeed beyond the laboratory.
