Lincoln, NE - Isco, Inc. announces the EZTOCII Total Organic Carbon analyzer, with a dual-stream version specifically for drinking water applications. Based on Isco's proven TOC analyzer technology, the new EZTOCII (dual stream) displays continuous TOC values while alternating between two sample streams.

Interest in on-line monitoring of TOC (Total Organic Carbon) has increased due to the EPA's Disinfection / Disinfectants Byproducts Rule (DBPR). The intent of the rule is to reduce byproducts such as chlorinated hydrocarbons that result from reaction between disinfectant chemicals and organic material in the water. The rule requires plants to report % TOC removal, and to reduce TOC by a target percentage based on the alkalinity of the raw water.

Real time monitoring of TOC - both raw water and after filtration -provides many benefits:

  • Helps ensure compliance with the DBPR;
  • Permits full scale plant evaluations of alternative coagulants for TOC removal;
  • Alerts operators to organic contaminants from unknown sources;
  • Draws attention to operational problems as they are occurring;
  • Enables cost savings from dosing of flocculants based upon actual TOC values.
EZTOCII offers the following features and enhancements for drinking water applications:
  • Measuring range 0-10mg/L with a minimum level of detection 0.015mg/L;
  • Dual stream sampling option to measure TOC before and after flocculation and/or softening;
  • Off line analysis of grab samples;
  • High TIC scrubber ensures removal of inorganic carbon even in hard water regions;
  • UV promoted persulfate oxidation combined with NDIR detection provide excellent repeatability and low operating costs;
  • Dual 4-20mA outputs and unidirectional serial communication.
