Ionics Forms New Division, Acquires Company with Related Experience

Ionics, Incorporatedife Sciences Division that will specialize in the water and wastewater treatment needs of companies in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and allied health sciences fields has been formed by <%=company%>.

In conjunction with this move, Ionics Chairman and CEO Arthur L. Goldstein, also announced the acquisition of M2 Innovative Solutions, Inc. of North Wales, PA, a supplier of pure water products and services to the life sciences industry, including validated USP pharmaceutical systems.

The Life Sciences Division will be part of Ionics' Ultrapure Water Group, headed by Executive Vice President William E. Katz. The Division also will handle the company's ultra-high-purity water products and services for the microelectronics, power generation and other industries.

The acquisition of M2 will bring to the new Ionics unit decades of pharmaceutical industry experience, an expanded product line, and a service center in the Pennsylvania/New York/New Jersey triangle -- one of the world's most highly concentrated areas for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences industry.

Watertown, MA-based Ionics is a separations technology company with worldwide interests that manufactures and sells membranes and related equipment for the purification, treatment and analysis of water and wastewater, supplies purified water, and makes water disinfection systems and water quality monitoring instrumentation.
