Municipal wastewater system operators deal with a huge amount of information. A vast number of variables can impact system operations and there are an increasing number of sensors and software designed to track these variables. Unfortunately, much of the data needed to truly understand and control the water system is stored in separate silos – isolated software and servers that cannot communicate with each other. This makes it difficult to cross-compare what is happening in one part of the system to another.

What plant managers need is a unified, holistic view. This requires integrating data from across operations into a central location. Once data has been centralized and integrated, operators can take the next steps toward agile and effective decision-making by verifying data integrity and ultimately running comprehensive analyses, from which they can gain real-time decision support.
