InsituMain System Added To Insituform Blue Product Line
Insituform Technologies, Inc. officially introduced the InsituMain system, its new cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) for pressure pipe rehabilitation, at the 2009 Annual No-Dig Conference in Toronto.
The InsituMain system is an AWWA Class IV fully-structural CIPP product suitable for all potable and non-potable pressure pipes. Applications include drinking water distribution mains, cooling water lines, fire water mains, industrial pressure applications and sewer force mains.
Joe Burgess, President and CEO, Insituform Technologies, Inc., said, "The InsituMain system complements our current Insituform Blue portfolio of minimally disruptive water rehabilitation products and provides a much-needed solution for our customer base. This product, which was specifically developed in response to our customers' desire for a trenchless solution capable of bearing the internal pressure and external load requirements, essentially provides all the benefits of a new pipeline infrastructure without the environmental and social costs typical of traditional open-cut replacement."
As an Insituform CIPP product, installation of the InsituMain system is less disruptive than traditional pipe rehabilitation methods. It has been tested to ANSI/NSF 61 requirements and is manufactured under an ISO 9000 approved quality management system at the Company's Batesville, Mississippi manufacturing facility.
The InsituMain system has a polyethylene layer on the inside pipe surface that increases the pipe's smoothness, reduces surface friction, minimizes reduction in flow, and provides an additional corrosion barrier for the pipe. It is composed of an epoxy composite layer which is reinforced with glass and/or polyester fiber materials (depending on a number of design elements including the host pipe diameter and internal pressure requirements). The InsituMain product is saturated with resin, inserted into the host pipe and cured with either hot water or steam. The InsituMain system, which adheres to the host pipe, provides a continuous, structural pipe.
