Innovyze Announces Comprehensive Software Training Schedule

High Level Training for Water and Wastewater Professionals Available for All Products at Locations Across the Globe

Innovyze, a leading global innovator of wet infrastructure modeling and simulation software and technologies, recently debuted new training offerings for its leading line of water and wastewater hydraulic and asset performance modeling software. Regularly scheduled training classes will be held in California and Colorado in the United States and in Wallingford, United Kingdom. The expanded offerings reflect Innovyze's superb reputation for supporting users of its world-leading engineering-GIS modeling and management software for water and wastewater utilities.

Innovyze's IACET accredited courses cover the basic functionality of all software products through a combination of lecture, product demonstrations, and hands-on exercises.

Specialized classes are also available for GIS and engineering professionals looking to maximize their productivity and get the most from their software investment. Advanced courses include:

  • GIS for Water and Sewer Modeling
  • Flood Mapping in InfoWorks RS
  • User Programmable Controls for InfoWorks WS
  • Asset Management and Condition Assessment with InfoNet
  • Transient Modeling using InfoSurge/H2 OSURGE

GIS For Water and Sewer Modeling is designed to teach engineers how to apply cutting-edge GIS technologies to real-world modeling applications for water distribution, wastewater and stormwater systems. This important course includes a balanced mix of background principles and hands-on computer modeling, addressing both water and wastewater industry standards. It draws on best practice and Innovyze's extensive practical experience in assessing and developing GIS-centric and GIS-enabled network modeling applications. Attendees will find out about the various GIS network modeling applications, coordination of systems and spatial references, QA/QC of GIS data, spatial queries and advanced spatial analysis, management of views and hotlinks, integration with geodatabases, and creation of a multi-user editing environment. They will also learn how to build a network model directly from GIS and review network topology, cleanup tools, classification schemes, and methods of presentation. Exercises are designed to explain and illustrate the principles and techniques discussed.

Flood Mapping in InfoWorks RS teaches users how the flood mapping process works in InfoWorks RS. It demonstrates how making changes to flood mapping objects can affect the flooded areas created. The course covers importing and updating gridded and tin ground models in InfoWorks RS; creating default flood mapping objects (e.g. flood compartments); modelling and creation of flood inundation maps; merging of flood compartments; and troubleshooting typical problems related to flood mapping objects.

User Programmable Controls in InfoWorks WS addresses the role of UPCs for water distribution system modeling. UPCs allow the modeler to link the change in the state of regulators (e.g. pumps and valves) to variations in results elsewhere in the network (e.g. flow and pressure). The user will be able to simulate any Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) in the system using UPCs, including complex mathematical relationships between controllers. UPCs are of particular use to engineers who want to create operational models that are "online" or applied in real time operations using IWLive. UPC scenarios can be created to reproduce the functionality of PLCs and test their applicability to particular situations. Course participants will use UPC to control flows and pressures in a series of example networks.

Asset Management and Condition Assessment with InfoNet gives users in-depth knowledge of InfoNet and its ability to store, validate, review, clean, edit and analyze all water, sewer and storm infrastructure asset data in a single database. User will complete hands-on exercises to create new databases, manage surveys and survey data, build analysis reporting, configure network data, investigate CCTV data, and much more.

Transient Modeling using InfoSurge/H2O SURGE provides practical knowledge of, the world's premier transient analysis and modeling software for water distribution systems. Transients in water distribution systems are a major concern for pipeline analysis, design and operation, as they have the potential to wreck or damage pipeline systems and equipment, induce adverse water quality conditions, reduce system efficiency, and threaten the integrity and quality of supply as well as public safety. In this comprehensive course, engineers will receive hands-on training in the product's advanced pressure surge simulation capabilities for analyzing mission-critical transient events, including cavitation and various commonly employed surge suppression/protection devices such as open and closed surge tanks; discharge tanks; pressure relief , surge anticipation and air release/vacuum valves; and pump bypass lines.

"Innovyze is particularly passionate about providing comprehensive, world class training opportunities," said J. Erick Heath, P.E., Innovyze Vice President and Director of Americas Operations. "Developing the best tools for modeling and managing the world's wet infrastructure is only part of our job. Our training team is constantly working to update and broaden our course offerings to keep up with our rapid development pace. We are excited about our latest offerings and the challenge of helping our customers get the most rewarding results from their software."
