IN-SPEC Reference Standards for UV and Visible Spectrophotometer
Catalog: In-Spec®
The UV and/or visible spectrophotometer is a widely used analytical tool based on a solution's ability to absorb light. This classic instrument is used for both qualitative and quantitative determinations from molecular identification and assays to colorimetric determination of specific ions. Procedures for using spectrophotometers have been developed in response to inspections by both quality assurance departments and by regulatory bodies. Proof of instrument validation must be available to regulatory bodies upon request; therefore laboratories need to make sure that the instrument is within specification.
The In-spec® photometric standards were developed by Advanced Polymer Systems (APS), a division of AP Pharma, as a spin-off of their already popular AMCO Clear® line of turbidity standards. In 2003, GFS Chemicals, Inc purchased APS and moved production to Columbus, OH. Due to customer requests, the In-spec® line was soon expanded to include a full range of calibration and verification standards for spectrophotometers.
Through the In-spec® line, GFS Chemicals, Inc aims to provide precise, ready to use standards for spectrophotometer calibration and verification that are both affordable and traceable. Because some applications require thinking that is outside the box, GFS also strives to work with customers to quickly formulate products that solve specific needs.
