In-Situ Oxygenation System Enables Increase In Capacity For Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility
To increase capacity within the existing footprint of a wastewater treatment facility in Michigan, two existing tanks were converted to aeration tanks with pure-oxygen aeration provided by Praxair’s In-Situ Oxygenation (I-SOTM) System. Both overall capacity and aeration requirements of the upgraded treatment train were determined by Praxair with GPS-XTM software. By using pure oxygen gas and I-SOTM equipment for aeration, the projected capacity of this treatment train was increased to more than three times the current flow rate. Pureoxygen aeration enabled the upgraded process to meet the maximum oxygen uptake rates (OUR) requirements, which were approximately of 90 mg/L/h.
