Igudan's Water Reuse System Saves Millions In Irrigation Costs

Igudan Utility is the largest sewage treatment plant, Shafdan, in Israel, located in the central Dan region and serving close to 2.5 million inhabitants. As a utility servicing 23 municipalities and situated approximately 10 km from Tel Aviv, Igudan plays a crucial role in providing wastewater treatment and recycling services. The Shafdan plant features one of the most advanced mechanical-biological facilities for purifying wastewater in the eastern Mediterranean, enabling Igudan to recycle wastewater and save valuable resources.
The Shafdan wastewater treatment plant gathers wastewater from various authorities and satellite cities. However, it only has authority over the main collectors and not the network in each authority or satellite city. This lack of authority poses a challenge for the plant, as it can encounter unidentified wastewater events from unknown sources that impact its processes. Learn how the WWTP overcame this challenge with a solution for wastewater network monitoring.
