Hydro-Guard Introduces The Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. Flushing System At ACE09
Recently, from the floor of the AWWA ACE 2009 Conference and Exposition, Environmental Enhancement & Technologies, USA Inc. (d.b.a., Hydro-Guard) launched its Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. (System Management Assisted by Remote Telemetry) Flushing System line.
The Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. flushing system allows for two way communication and remote flushing unit management via either a secure web portal or a secure interface with the client's existing SCADA. By way of this two way communication, the client can receive real-time updates from each Hydro-Guard-equipped S.M.A.R.T. unit in their system. The Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. system can be integrated with a residual analyzer and a variety of other water quality management devices. This integration will allow the Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. flushing system to flush when the disinfectant residual drops below the parameters established by the end-user as opposed to flushing on a time based schedule. As an added benefit, the time based programming functionality that has always been Hydro-Guard's cornerstone for success has been incorporated into the S.M.A.R.T. flushing system's design so that the end-user can have maximum control over the utility's flushing program from on-site or a remote monitoring location.

The Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. flushing system has been engineered for ease of installation, durability and minimum maintenance. Designed to meet needs for all utilities, the Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. flushing system is available in two primary models, one is battery powered and the other is a 120-volt AC powered system. The low power battery operated model utilizes a C-type battery that offers a two year life span and has been designed with a redundant battery to reduce the chance of a power failure. Both models are compatible with most residual analyzers and SCADA technology. Utilities operating without SCADA can utilize cellular communication to implement two-way communication between the operator and the Hydro-Guard via a secure web based portal.
Additionally, the Hydro-Guard S.M.A.R.T. Flushing System has been designed so that the controller can be retrofitted to any existing automatic flushing system, with the exception of the Hydro-Guard HG-6 Hydrant Based Flushing System.
