The Halmi Venturi Type Primary Flow Element has been in commercial use since its development in the early eighties by Dezsoe Halmi, founder of Primary Flow Signal, Inc. The development work included the evolution of the fundamental design of the metering shape to produce the desired hydraulic performance, which was rooted in his decades of experience with a broad range of prior art and numerous flow meters of competing design, research and the practice in which Mr. Halmi was engaged. Following the crystallization of the idea, however, an ambitious and extensive hydraulic calibration and testing program ensued whereby, among other data, the 2 sigma substantiation of the metering shape was determined, conclusively establishing the design as a viable and superior primary flow element(see PFS Document C- Accuracy and Reliability of the HVT.)

This initial development work, which remains a defining example of how to properly develop and substantiate a flow meter, continues on a regular basis to this day by virtue of numerous hydraulic calibrations conducted in the course of the commercial activities of Primary Flow Signal, Inc., making the HVT- design one of the best substantiated and thoroughly researched differential producers available in the world today.
