HORIBA Advanced Techno Joins Nereda Preferred Supplier Program
HORIBA Advanced Techno, Co., Ltd. (“HORIBA Advanced Techno”) is pleased to announce a partnership with Haskoning as a preferred supplier for the Nereda wastewater treatment process, further strengthening advanced process control solutions for wastewater treatment plants worldwide.
Nereda is a breakthrough biological wastewater treatment technology using aerobic granular sludge (AGS), where microbial granules enable efficient treatment in a single reactor. By combining key treatment steps in one compact process, it reduces the need for large additional tanks and equipment, helping utilities reduce footprint, energy use, and chemical consumption—delivering a more sustainable and cost-effective approach to modern wastewater treatment.
By integrating HORIBA’s advanced measurement technology with Haskoning’s proven wastewater treatment expertise, the partnership supports reliable and efficient operation across Nereda installations worldwide.
At the core of the collaboration is HORIBA’s reagent-free ammonia nitrogen sensor, the HC-200NH, which plays a key role in optimizing biological treatment control. Designed for continuous NH4-N monitoring, the sensor operates without chemical reagents and incorporates an ultrasonic cleaning system, significantly reducing maintenance while ensuring stable, real-time measurement.
Accurate ammonia monitoring is essential for optimizing aeration, one of the most energy-intensive stages in biological treatment processes such as Nereda. By enabling precise aeration control, the HC-200NH helps utilities improve energy efficiency, maintain effluent compliance, and reduce operational costs.
Kentaro Inoue, the business owner of the water business at HORIBA Advanced Techno, says, “We are truly honored to have been selected as a Nereda Preferred Supplier by Haskoning. By leveraging the synergies between HORIBA’s sensing technologies and Nereda technology, we are committed to advancing high-performance process control technologies that enhance operational efficiency and reliability. Through this collaboration, we will support wastewater utilities worldwide in achieving greater efficiency and long-term environmental sustainability.”
