Hampton Roads Sanitation District Awards Contract To HDR To Provide Engineering Services for Atlantic Treatment Plant Expansion
The goal is to increase the plant's wastewater treatment capacity from 36 to 54 million gallons per day to as soon as possible but no later than July 2009. The project will include improvements to existing facilities to enhance service life and operational efficiency.
HRSD serves 17 cities and counties in Southeastern Virginia, an area with a population of 1.6 million. The utility, which has received numerous state and national awards for its effective operations and environmental achievements, treats more than 160 million gallons per day of wastewater at nine major treatment plants.
