H2O Innovation Partners In First-Ever Research Chair On Maple Syrup Production And Sugar Bush Management
H2O Innovation Inc. (“H2O Innovation” or the “Corporation”) is proud to announce its active contribution to a new research chair dedicated to maple syrup production and sugar bush management, the first of its kind worldwide.
Led by Guillaume Moreau, professor at Laval University in Quebec City, the Chaire de recherche en acériculture et aménagement des érablières aims to support the resilience, the capacity for innovation, and the performance of one of Quebec’s most important economic and cultural sectors. The research will provide scientific answers to long-standing questions in an industry that continues to face significant weather-related challenges.
The research chair is funded through the contributions of three partners recognized by Laval University: the Producteurs et productrices acéricoles du Québec (PPAQ), H2O Innovation, and Gestion Solifor. Significant federal and provincial funding also contributes to this initiative.
In addition to a five-year financial commitment, H2O Innovation will play an active role in this project by leveraging its technical expertise. The use of H2O Innovation equipment will allow researchers to collect consistent and reliable data, which is essential for accurately identifying the actual effects of the various practices and techniques studied.
“With our long-standing expertise in supplying specialized maple syrup production equipment across North America, we’re excited to contribute to the research and development of technologies tailored to today’s climate challenges. We are also looking forward to supporting the next generation of producers. Playing a role in this new and unique research chair is a great source of pride for us,” said Frédéric Dugré, President and Chief Executive Officer at H2O Innovation.
From its inception, H2O Innovation has established itself as a leader in the design, manufacture, and installation of equipment dedicated to maple syrup production. Building on its in-depth knowledge of the field and constant drive for innovation, the Corporation develops high-performance solutions that contribute to the advancement of the industry on a daily basis. The reverse osmosis technology used in maple sap concentrator systems can also be adapted to various applications of the agri-food industry, including the treatment of waste from distillation processes.
