Ground Plates

All magnetic flow meters need to be properly protected from spurious electrical interference, and especially require proper and reliable grounding when placed into the pipe line. While some manufacturers provide mag meters with an integral grounding scheme, most mag meters require grounding plates (grounding rings) for proper protection.

These grounding plates are typically produced in stainless steel and are installed between the pipe flanges and the upstream and downstream meter flanges. Thereby, the meter is insulated from the pipe line and protected from any possible electrical discharge potentially derived from the line fluid, since the plates are conductive, and in direct contact with the line fluid.

Actual grounding connection is achieved by wiring the ground to the paddle drilling on the grounding plate, once the plate is installed into the pipeline.

Typically, grounding plates will require replacement after some years of use, depending on the type and composition of the particular application line fluid. PFS will gladly provide rings, competatively priced for either initial acquisition or subsequent retrofits, regardless of mag meter model.
