Plasti-Fab Corrosion Resistant Insulated Shelters provide the ultimate in year-round protection. The durable fiberglass construction requires virtually no maintenance, is electrically nonconductive, and is not susceptible to rust or decay. Various styles and sizes are available.

NEMA 3R or NEMA 4X

Sizes from 5 - 12 ft. Wide, and up to 18 ft. Long.

Design Features

Fully Insulated - Shelters are fully insulated and use sandwich construction consisting of a polyurethane foam core between fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) skins.

All Plastic - Low maintenance FRP is weather and corrosion resistant. All plastic construction, with stainless steel exterior door hardware, provides a rugged, trouble free structure. NO embedded wood to decay; NO embedded metal to corrode.

K-Factor - Less than 0.14 BTU/hr-ft² -° F/in.

Ribbed Exterior - Ribbed exterior walls, built over a minimum 1" thick core, provide high strength.

Flat, Smooth Interior - Flat interior walls allow ease in mounting equipment.

Wind resistance - Withstands 125 mph (200 km/hr) winds and 40 psf (195 kg/sq/m.) snow loads.

Pre-Assembled - Shelters in sizes up to 12 ft. wide are factory assembled while larger sizes can be field assembled with ease.

Magnetic Transparence - Shelter is transparent to electromagnetic waves, except for door hardware.

Good security - A three-point door catch and padlockable handle provide good security.

Tamper Resistant Door - Door is mounted in a recess for increased tamper resistance, and has a special neoprene seal to provide a superior weather-tight closure.

Rain Visor - Rain drip visor over door helps keep water out at all times.

Stainless Steel Hinges - Heavy duty long tang hinges of T-304 stainless steel have 1/2" hinge pins and nylon sleeves. Hinges are bolted to the door and shelter, thus permitting adjustment should it ever be required (no pop rivets to work loose and come out).

Equipment Mount - Mounting channel strut laminated to interior wall(s) for equipment mounting.

Cost Efficient - Factory assembled shelters with integral insulated floors meet NEMA 3R specifications and will control condensation and reduce winter heat loss.

Raised Threshold - Raised threshold keeps water out, spilled chemicals in.

Many colors - Standard colors are white, beige, green and gray. Custom colors available.

All plastic - Assures long life.

Standard Hardware

  • Three-point stainless steel door catch.
  • Stainless steel padlockable door handle.
  • Heavy duty stainless steel hinges.
  • Spring-loaded, over-center door holder keeps the door open in the wind and releases automatically when the door is being closed.

Mounting

  • Shelters can be bolted down to slab, timbers, structural steel or anchored to solid ground.
  • Shelters having an integral floor can be anchored down through the floor as desired.
  • Shelters not equipped with floors have a 4" flange on the inside for bolting or anchoring.

Electrical Package

  • A standard electrical package may be included, consisting of the following: 15 Amp. Breaker in a NEMA 4X box.
  • 60 Watt light with vapor tight bulb and non-metallic base.
  • 120 Volt convenience outlet.
  • 120 Volt dual exhaust/purge fans with on-off switch or optional thermostat.
  • 500 or 1000 Watt, 120 Volt heater with integral thermostat on-off switch.
  • Weatherproof exterior switch.
  • All of the above to be pre-wired with 14-3 SO cord and corrosion resistant connectors.

Options Available

  • Air conditioners and other electrical equipment can be provided on request to meet your needs.
  • Fire suppression equipment may also be installed.
  • When fire is a potential hazard a fire retardant resin can be used.
  • For protection in extremely severe applications, the interior and/or exterior laminate of the shelter can be made using a high performance resin such as bisphenol-A or vinylester.
  • Stainless steel lifting eyes, screened vents with cowling, wall struts, shelving for mounting equipment and other amenities can be provided in any size or location desired.
  • Laminated safety glass window mounted in neoprene moulding can be installed in doors.
  • Floors can be uninsulated or can meet any R value required.
  • Skid mounting can be provided for portable applications.
  • 3/4" plastic floor drain (marine through-hull connector), with rubber and brass snap type plug, has an inside flange and outside threaded flanged nut.

Available in fully insulated or general purpose models to provide complete security and weatherization for expensive instrument and sampler systems.

Design Features:

  • Single Piece Integrity - Shelter and cover are each molded as a single unit with no external seams or welds. Floor is molded with sides.
  • Sandwich Construction - Insulated Model uses 1" polyurethane foam core between fiberglass reinforced polyester skins.
  • Easy Access - Gull wing door lifts up and out of way to allow unhindered access while working.
  • Weatherization - Weathertight seals protect against moisture. Screened vents at front and back provide air circulation.
  • Equipment Security - Stainless steel hinges and locking latches protect internal sampler and instruments.
  • Low maintenance - Rugged trouble free structure resists scarring or abrasion. Smooth exterior gelcoat surface makes cleaning easy and protects against biological contamination.
  • Integral Floor - Floor provides protection for expensive samplers and instruments against moisture picked up from concrete floors and humid atmospheres.
  • Counterpoise Spring - Servicing personnel can lift door with only one finger.
  • Color Choice - Standard exterior finish is smooth, white gelcoat. Optional green or beige exterior finish is available.

Available Options:

  • Exhaust Fans - Dual 100 cfm exhaust fans provide ventilation and circulation for better temperature control. Fans are thermostatically controlled.
  • 500 Watt heater with Integral Thermostat - Helps to prevent winter freeze ups.
  • Electrical Connection - Recessed male grounding plug with spring tension cover for easy external hookup. 4-plex connection box for internal supply. Drain - 3/4" corrosion resistant marine thru-hull connector provides easy sampling tube access or drainage.
