Marietta, GA -- Eka Chemicals Inc. announced that its SVP-Pure® chlorine dioxide generators have been certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61, Drinking Water System Components, by NSF International.

"Our unique Purate® chemical precursor for making chlorine dioxide has been certified to NSF 60 for several years. Now with our generators certified to NSF 61, our customers have available a total chemicals and equipment package that has been certified by NSF International," said Eka Chemicals Purate® Sales & Marketing Manager, Gary Charles. "Increasingly, state regulators are requiring that equipment associated with drinking water purification meet the NSF/ANSI Standard 61 and Eka Chemicals is pleased that we are one of the first suppliers to provide both NSF 60 and NSF 61 certifications for our chlorine dioxide customers."

The SVP-Pure® chlorine dioxide generator utilizes Purate®, a proprietary blend of sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide, to generate chlorine dioxide at rates from 1 to 250+ pounds per hour. Chlorine dioxide produced by Purate® is used as pretreatment to promote iron and manganese removal, to avoid the formation of trihalomethane compounds (THM's), and to provide disinfection for drinking water. Purate® is also used to generate chloring dioxide for a variety of industrial applications.

"Providing quality equipment and support is the hallmark of Eka Chemicals' customer service. And part of that service is helping our customers comply with regulatory issues, like NSF 61 certification," said Mr. Charles. "It's part of our commitment to providing 'Leading CIO2 Technology™' to our customers."
