DTRI Delegation Concludes A Global Tour To Prestigious British Universities And Companies In ‘Water Desalination'

A team from the Institute of Research, Innovation and Desalination Technologies (DTRI) concluded an extensive tour during which they visited prestigious British universities, research institutes and companies, to expand cooperation in research in desalination industry.

The tour kicked off from the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester, where the team discussed with researchers in the field of reverse osmosis membranes headed by Professor Rahul, a Nobel Prize winner in the field of graphene, opportunities for research partnerships in the field of reusing and developing used membranes using graphene, which in turn works for better performance. for membranes.

They visited the Royos Institute for Materials and Innovation, and discussed ways of joint cooperation in the field of research and development to create new technologies and promising business opportunities in water desalination, and to hold specialized workshops in the water industry with the participation of the Institute's experts.

The tour included a visit to the universities of Manchester, Oxford, Warwick and Nottingham, which are pioneers in their research in the field of water industry, and possess the latest technologies, equipment and devices. Promising opportunities for joint work in the research field were discussed, including reverse osmosis membranes, renewable energy, sea mining, and anti-sedimentation materials, in addition to opening horizons for exchanging knowledge experiences by establishing short-term training programs in the field of the water industry.

Within the framework of the visit, the Research Institute team presented a workshop in which they discussed the future outlook for the desalination industry and what has been achieved in terms of quality, efficiency, compliance with environmental standards, and the search for environmentally friendly technologies. The presentation also dealt with the most important research areas and future directions that desalination experts seek to reach in order to meet the challenges.

The research team called on students and academics to compete for the “Desalination Innovation Award” to increase modern solutions and innovations in the water desalination industry, and develop clean energy sources in order to enhance promising business opportunities in this field by attracting innovative minds from all countries of the world.

The team concluded its tour by visiting the leading industrial sectors, which included meeting with Water Cycle Company, which specializes in extracting minerals from water, signing a non-disclosure memorandum to exchange joint technical information, meeting with Fiber Tech, a company specialized in developing anti-sedimentation materials, and agreeing to train researchers at the Research Institute to develop materials. Sealant in commercial applications.
