DEXSORB® For PFAS Treatment In Reverse Osmosis Concentrate

Source: Cyclopure
pfas-treatment-RO-concentrate

Reverse osmosis system rejection streams typically concentrate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances to levels ten times higher than raw source water, creating severe treatment challenges for conventional adsorbents. High concentrations of competing organic matter, inorganic salts, and background dissolved solids routinely cause premature fouling, compressed electrical double layers, and rapid media exhaustion in standard carbon or resin systems. Deploying a cyclodextrin-based media engineered with uniform sub-nanometer hydrophobic cavities solves these selectivity constraints by targets-matching target contaminants without interference from background water chemistry. During a 64-day trial processing over 65,000 gallons of concentrated reject water, a dual-vessel packed bed setup operating at a brief 10-minute contact time completely eliminated PFOS, PFHxS, and PFNA while removing over 93% of PFOA.
