Concentrol Launches R&D Project With The LEQUIA Research Group At The University Of Girona To Promote Wastewater Reuse

On September 4, Concentrol officially kicked off a new research and development project in partnership with LEQUIA (Laboratory of Chemical and Environmental Engineering) at the University of Girona, a leading research group recognized for its expertise in innovative water management technologies.

Entitled “Technical feasibility study on the treatment of current wastewater for partial reuse”, the project is funded under the Technology and Knowledge Transfer Vouchers (CTTC 2025) program and will run until January 2026.

A step forward in sustainability and innovation
The main objective is to evaluate technical solutions that enable the recycling of part of the wastewater generated at our facilities. The study will focus on the use of membrane systems and biological reactors, two technologies known for their efficiency and environmental performance.

With this initiative, Concentrol strengthens its commitment to a responsible and circular approach to water resource management, reducing reliance on freshwater supplies and minimizing the environmental footprint of its industrial activity.

Strategic collaboration with a leading research partner
Working hand in hand with LEQUIA not only provides access to advanced scientific expertise but also reflects our commitment to building strategic partnerships between industry and academia. This collaboration highlights the importance of knowledge transfer as a driver of projects that deliver tangible value to both industry and society at large.

Concentrol’s commitment to sustainability
This project adds to the many initiatives already underway to enhance process efficiency and consolidate a comprehensive sustainability strategy, rooted in innovation, environmental responsibility, and industrial excellence.

At Concentrol, we firmly believe that research and development are key to building a more sustainable and competitive future. Our collaboration with the University of Girona stands as a clear and inspiring example of that commitment.
