Chicago Pump Company
In 1954, Chicago was acquired by FMC Corporation and the "Chicago" product line was expanded to include waste treatment equipment and other complimentary equipment from FMC's other lines. There are many treatment plants installed today that were "Chicago Pump Catalog" plants . . . nearly everything in the plant was chosen from the CP catalog. In the late 70's, Chicago Pump moved from its old plant at Diversey Ave & The Chicago River to a new plant in Itasca, IL
In 1980, FMC began divesting of some of its non-core business units and the Chicago Pump family of products was broken up and sold off. Some products, such as the Swingfuser, in the waste treatment group were retained by FMC, but the pump products were split up. The water and HVAC type products were sold to Peerless Pump in Indianapolis (now a part of the Sterling-Sihi Group) and the wastewater pumps and comminution equipment and the Chicago Pump brand name were sold to Clow Corporation. The Chicago Pump products complimented the manufacturing at the Melrose Park, IL facility known as Clow-Yeomans Pump Division and was moved to this plant .
In 1985 Clow also reorganized to a core product focus and sold of many of the non pipe or valve operations. The operation was sold and was renamed Yeomans Chicago Corporation . The Chicago Pump name was retained for the pump and comminution product line.
The Chicago Pump line has continued to strengthen is coverage and has expanded its product coverage to now include a complete line of Easy-Lift Submersible Pumps, Dry-Pit Submersible Pumps and the Sewer Chewer® Wastewater/Sludge Grinder.
