Cathy Bailey, Matthew Jalbert Appointed To AMWA Board

This month, AMWA’s Board of Directors appointed two directors to fill vacancies on the body and updated the makeup of the Executive Committee in response to an opening in the Vice President role.

Following the recommendations of AMWA’s Nominating Committee, the Board appointed Cathy Bailey of Greater Cincinnati Water Works to fill the Board’s vacant Region 5 seat, and Matthew Jalbert of Trinity River Authority of Texas to fill a vacant At-Large seat. Bailey previously served on AMWA’s Board before taking a hiatus from Cincinnati for a temporary role at U.S. EPA, while Jalbert has served as Executive Manager of the Northern Region of the Trinity River Authority, for the past two years.

Bailey will fill the Board seat vacated by Andrea Cheng of the Chicago Department of Watershed Management, while Jalbert will fill the seat made available by the departure of Yvonne Forrest of Houston Water.

Forrest also served as the Board’s Vice President prior to her departure, so the Board voted last week to elevate Jeff Szabo of Suffolk County Water Authority to that role. Calvin Farr of Prince William County Service Authority was then voted Board Treasurer (Szabo’s previous role), and Lindsey Rechtin of Northern Kentucky Water District was chosen to fill the vacant Secretary role made available by Farr’s elevation.

Six Board seats are up for election this fall, on which AMWA members will have an opportunity to vote during the Executive Management Conference in Miami. This summer, the association will invite designated representatives of member utilities to submit their names for consideration by the Nominating Committee.
