Capture6 And Pilot Energy To Establish A Pilot Decarbonization Facility In Western Australia

Capture6 announces a strategic partnership with Pilot Energy Limited (Pilot) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Via this partnership, Capture6 and Pilot will assess the integration of Capture6’s joint water production and direct air capture (DAC) technology into the Mid West Clean Energy Project (MWCEP), Pilot’s clean ammonia export project, which aims to produce up to 1.2 million tonnes per year.

Capture6’s strategic involvement within the MWCEP will begin with the establishment of a pilot demonstration facility called Project Wallaby. This initial phase serves as a testing ground, with a vision to evolve into a full-scale facility where Capture6’s novel water recovery processes will:

• Generate additional freshwater for the MWCEP and surrounding communities
• Co-produce green hydrogen
• Permanently sequester CO₂ from the atmosphere and the facility’s point source emissions
• Manage water generated by Pilot’s carbon storage operations

Australia’s recent increase in climate targets underscores the country’s imperative to accelerate its clean energy transition. And, given the growing groundwater scarcity in Western Australia, state and local governments along with proponents of major projects recognize the urgent need to implement sustainable water management practices.
