Cadagua Awarded A Seawater Desalination Plant For OCP In Jorf Lasfar, Morocco

The Moroccan company OCP (Office Chérifien des Phosphates), a world leader in exports of phosphates and derivatives, has given Cadagua the ‘Letter of Intent' in regards to awarding a contract for a Reverse Osmosis desalination plant at the Jorf Lasfar industrial complex, located about 100 km south of Casablanca.
The contract, worth € 60 million, includes the design, manufacture, supply, construction, installation, testing of the desalination plant as well as putting it into operation. The plant will have a treatment capacity of 75,800 m3 per day, incorporates energy recovery devices and features the cutting-edge technology in pre-treatments such as: DAF (Dissolved air flotation) and ultra-filtration.
Cadagua has been awarded the full amount of the contract, after submitting its offer as a single contractor. This project also includes two future expansions planned by OCP in order to obtain in the medium-term a final production capacity of 222,200 m3 per day.
OCP has a workforce of 18,000 employees, with a turnover in 2010 of $ US4.5 billion. This represents 3.5% of Moroccan GDP and just over 25% of total exports.
This project is particularly strategic for Cadagua, as it is the first such reference in Morocco, and the third in North Africa, after the Jerba and Zarzis desalination plants. This addition consolidates the company's strong commitment to international expansion in recent years.
