BWT Best Water Technology's Market Penetration Leadership Wins Acclaim From Frost & Sullivan
In less than a decade and a half, BWT has established itself as the leading European water technology group with 70 subsidiaries spread across the region and around the world. Two key acquisitions - HOH Water Technology in Scandinavia and Waterman Purification, Ltd., in Ireland - have now strengthened the company's presence in key regional markets. Such wide penetration has been supported by the expertise of BWT's geographically dispersed subsidiaries in each European country and has provided an excellent platform for growth, especially in emerging European markets.
From having a sole subsidiary, Christ Nordic in Sweden, which specialised in providing ultra pure water treatment systems for the pharmaceutical sector, BWT has moved to further penetrate the Scandinavian market through its purchase of HOH Water Technology in 2003.
"With this acquisition, BWT gains two very important aspects which will enable it to enhance its sales and growth in the Scandinavian market," comments Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Frederick Royan. "Firstly, capabilities will be boosted by the additional expertise of HOH Water Technology and secondly, BWT will have the advantage of targeting the Scandinavian market with an already established sales network of subsidiaries in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland."
In 2004, BWT's subsidiary company Christ Water Technology Group acquired Waterman Purification, Ltd., which specialises in pure and ultra pure water treatment catering to the growing pharmaceuticals industry in Ireland. This acquisition has reinforced the technological capabilities of Christ in the crucial pharmaceutical sector and more importantly, has strengthened its ability to provide highly customised water treatment solutions to the UK market.
The company's global strategy for restructuring has been central to the BWT Group's success. Reflective of this has been the formation of Aqua Systems Technologies (AST)/Christ Water Technology Group, which among other technologies also specialises in providing water treatment solutions to the semiconductor, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, food and beverage, and power industries. In order to meet the increasing industry demand for the highly specialized Christ products and services, the company formed several international joint-ventures in 2004, namely Tenergy Christ Water (US), Christ Austar (China) and Christ Nishotech (India).
Dedicated research and development efforts and exceptional technical competencies have underlined the BWT Group's strategic market domination. Christ has helped BWT play a central role in the semiconductor, power, and pharmaceuticals industries by pioneering the Christ Septron electro-deionisation modules, which could be sanitized with hot water, thereby eliminating the previous practice of chemical disinfection.
"BWT has exhibited the spirit of the Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Penetration Leadership by demonstrating strategic excellence in process water treatment technology and furthering its presence by performing key acquisitions in Scandinavia and Ireland to further establish its leadership in the European region with its Christ Water Technology Group," concludes Mr. Royan. "Furthermore, with its recently formed joint-ventures in the US, China and India, Christ continues its dynamic expansion and is well positioned to become the global industry leader in pure and ultra-pure water treatment in the semiconductor, power, and pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors."
