Brown and Caldwell Technical Experts Share Insights On Climate Resilience, Water Treatment And Other Water Topics During WEFTEC 2024

Brown and Caldwell, an engineering consulting firm creating and delivering water and environmental solutions throughout North America and the Pacific, today announced that 21 of its technical experts will share their insights and innovations during WEFTEC 2024, a premier conference for the water industry, taking place in New Orleans on Oct. 5-9. Brown and Caldwell team members will speak during five workshops and 26 presentations.

Brown and Caldwell-led presentations will address how utilities are improving resilience in response to climate change, such as sharing the latest best practices in managing fugitive methane; speak to energy-saving approaches to nutrient removal; and discuss the IntensiCarb process, an intensification technology that enhances solids treatment and integrates resource recovery.

“We’re thrilled to have so many members of our team sharing technical expertise at WEFTEC and the opportunity to highlight the solutions and actions we’re taking to solve complex climate challenges,” said Wendy Broley, P.E., Chief Technical Officer at Brown and Caldwell. “The water community faces profound challenges including climate resilience, population growth, aging infrastructure, capacity and resources, and a changing regulatory environment. We look forward to sharing solutions our team has developed in collaboration with utilities and industry clients, and to learning from other water professionals.”

A few of the presentations include:

  • “Advancing Low-Energy Biological Nutrient Removal through Low Dissolved Oxygen Operation: Is Biological Selection the Key?” by Jose Jimenez, vice president, wastewater treatment, on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 1:40 pm CST
  • “Tale of Two WRRFs: Optimizing Internal Carbon for Meeting Low Nutrient Limits” by Kayla Bauhs, wastewater treatment staff engineer, on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9:30 am CST
  • “How Columbus Used Fugitive Methane Quantification to Implement Fugitive Methane Abatement Solutions as Part of a Major Bioenergy Program” by Trung Le, P.E., principal environmental engineer, and Dante Fiorino, senior principal engineer, on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 2:30 pm CST
