Company will also lead technical session on evolution of metering technology and sponsor ACE17 Meter Madness Competition

Badger Meter, a leading global innovator and manufacturer of flow measurement, control and communications solutions, recently announced it will once again be the Platinum Sponsor of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE17) at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia June 11 – 14, 2017. In addition, Badger Meter will introduce its new ORION® Cellular LTE endpoint, which efficiently and securely delivers meter reading data to water utilities via a reliable LTE cellular network.

During ACE17, Badger Meter will also lead a technical session on the evolution of metering technology and its impacts on utility customer service on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. The company will sponsor the ACE17 Meter Madness Competition on Monday, June 12, 2017.

“Badger Meter has been a proud participant in AWWA’s annual conferences for decades, and we are thrilled to return in 2017 as the ACE platinum sponsor,” said Kim Stoll, vice president of sales and marketing, Badger Meter. “With new innovations in meter reading technologies and rapidly changing customer demands for data and resources, effectively managing water usage is more critical than ever before. As we like to say at Badger Meter, smart cities require smarter water. As a leader in smart metering technology, Badger Meter is looking forward to leading valuable discussions on managing reliable and accurate smart water systems during this year’s conference.”

Introducing ORION Cellular LTE Endpoints
As part of Badger Meter’s commitment to help its customers “future-proof” their metering systems, the company is introducing the latest advancement in its ORION cellular technology, the ORION Cellular LTE endpoint, at ACE17. Built on more than a century of water metering expertise and the proven ORION communications technology, this first-to-market Long-Term Evolution (LTE) water endpoint ensures Badger Meter customers remain current with the latest advances in cellular communications. The ORION LTE cellular endpoint leverages the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) cellular network, which means utilities have access to a superior multi-network coverage through AT&T’s nationwide network when ORION LTE endpoints are deployed as part of the company’s BEACON® Software as a Service (SaaS) managed solution.

The LTE endpoint is an innovative, two-way water endpoint that utilizes existing cellular infrastructure to efficiently and securely deliver meter reading data to the utility via the reliable cellular network. As an evolution in technology, the LTE endpoint offers additional benefits to utility customers including a standard 15-minute data interval, a mobile backup message, an extended field life and a more user-friendly deployment feature.

“As the newest first-to-market solution in our broad product portfolio, the ORION Cellular LTE endpoint is built on the cellular network provider’s Long-Term Evolution network and highlights how Badger Meter is always working to anticipate customer needs and drive innovative solutions,” added Stoll. “We are continuously working to be at the forefront of advanced metering technology and analytics that will enhance service for our customers and drive greater understanding of water use.”

ACE attendees can visit Badger Meter at Booth #2801 to learn more about the new ORION Cellular LTE endpoint. At the booth, attendees can also participate in ongoing demonstrations of the company’s products for the water industry, including the BEACON SaaS managed solution, which offers cellular as well as fixed network metering technology. Badger Meter’s E-Series® Ultrasonic Plus with Integrated Shutoff Valve, which was unveiled at ACE16, will also be available for demonstration. Along with the benefits of the original E-Series meter, E-Series Ultrasonic Plus features a patented flow restriction valve that supports open, closed and partial closed settings, and a patent-pending magnetic coupled valve to ensure a permanent seal. The company will also showcase its comprehensive line of reliable and accurate water meters, proven AMR/AMI technology and high-resolution encoders for both residential and commercial applications.
