At ACE14, Festo Demonstrates Solutions That Decrease Water Industry Field Service Time And Overall Costs

Festo Water Key Visual1 6-2-14

Visitors to the Festo Booth #1669 can interact with an automated water treatment skid, view a media valve demonstration, and discuss the company’s latest diagnostics solutions

Festo showcases at ACE14, June 8-12 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, solutions for lowering the time and associated costs in water industry field service. Festo will also demonstrate ways to save valuable control panel space while speeding up the installation and commissioning of automated skids. (Festo Booth #1669)

Festo supplies a complete one-stop-shop for pilot valves, I/O, HMI, and ready to install process valve assemblies – ball and butterfly valves, solenoids, positioners, actuators, and sensors.  Festo supervisory controllers with advanced diagnostic modules can interface with any leading PLC or DCS platform and communicate directly with a process SCADA system.

The dynamic automated skid at the Festo booth demonstrates the company’s water industry automation expertise and product range.

“All of these Festo components were designed to work together in order to ensure ease of integration, high operating efficiency, and fast time to market for Festo-based solutions,” said Craig Correia, Process Automation Industry Manager for Festo. “This product and solution range delivers a top-down/bottom-up solution that supplies continuous diagnostic data. Diagnostic data accessed remotely over Ethernet can ensure that field service time is kept to a minimum and that problems are quickly identified and fixed.”

Correia added that having one supplier offering most of a skid’s components saves companies considerable engineering time and delivers many operational benefits, including technical support, project procurement management, and parts inventory. This had led to a significantly growing interest globally in Festo by the global water treatment industry.

Festo will also be showing its CPX electrical terminal. This combination provides serial linkage and consistent communication down to the valve level for one of the most, if not the most, comprehensive diagnostics solutions of any automated water system available today. The compact MPA terminal has up to 64 valve positions/128 solenoid coils. This saves considerable space in the control cabinet and provides reliable feedback-free switching of pilot valves/process actuators.

The Festo FED HMI connects to all Field Equipment Controllers (FECs) either serially or via Ethernet. The HMI features trends display, recipe handling, multilingual capabilities, and software uploading of projects. Both the HMI and the CPX/MPA terminal are available with integrated CoDeSys V3.x controller which is an economical and powerful solution for skid control.

Also at the booth, Festo will demonstrate media flow featuring the Festo VZXF angle seat valve, a multipole mounting system to reduce control cabinet costs, and a host of water treatment related automation components, including air quality preparation systems that extend the life of pneumatic components.
