ARoNite Overview

Source: APTwater, Inc.

The ARoNite (Autotrophic Reduction of Nitrate) process is a fixed-film biological treatment technology for the removal of oxidized contaminants. ARoNite systems rely on naturally occurring bacteria that use hydrogen gas as an electron donor to reduce contaminants in the influent stream. The bacteria take carbon needed for cell synthesis from naturally occuring bicarbonate in water from the influent stream. Unlike competing RO an IX processes, AroNite does not create brine streams or other waste residuals. The resulting process is remarkably tolerant of nitrate variations in feed water quality and produces consistently high quality effluent.
