Announcing New SWAN Leaders
Welcoming two new Council Members and SWAN Americas Chairman
The Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN) is pleased to welcome two new Council Members: Andy Smith, Smart Water Strategy Manager at Anglian Water and Eric Bindler, Senior Research Director at Bluefield Research. Joining as the new SWAN Americas Alliance Chair is Michael Karl, National Optimisation Services Leader at Brown and Caldwell.
Andy Smith is an enigmatic leader with a focus on people and a passion for cross-sector collaboration and innovation, he excels in disruptive thinking to drive digital transformation across the sector. Andy previously led the SWAN European Utility Alliance and chaired the SWAN Digital Twin “Outcomes and Applications” Subgroup.

Eric Bindler previously led the SWAN Americas Research Group. He is a well-versed researcher specialising in digital water technology, company strategy, water finance, and climate policy.

Michael Karl previously served as the Co-Chair of the SWAN Digital Twin “Holistic Architecture” Subgroup, where he was instrumental in creating the Digital Twin Readiness Guide, released at the SWAN 12th Annual Conference in May 2022. As the new SWAN Americas Chair, Michael will collaborate with diverse SWAN Members to accelerate smart water adoption in the region.
