AngloGold Ashanti Entrusts Veolia With Water Treatment At Its Gold Mine In Obuasi, Ghana

New contract for Veolia with AngloGold Ashanti Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the South African mining company AngloGold Ashanti, the world's third largest gold producer. Veolia Ghana Limited (*) will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all water treatment plants at its Obuasi mine in Ghana. No less than six facilities are needed to guarantee the quality of water treatment and discharges related to the exploitation of the Obuasi gold mine by AngloGold Ashanti: 4 wastewater treatment plants and 2 water treatment plants. treatment of drinking water whose management has been entrusted to Veolia Ghana Limited for a period of 3 years.

It must be said that water is essential to the mining industry. Ore processing, dust removal, sludge transport, personnel needs, it is used in various activities related to the exploration phases. In a tropical climate subject to heavy seasonal rains, the Ghana Gold Mine is responsible for managing its wastewater and process residues to meet the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency. in discharges into the ecosystem.
