AMWA Statement On EPA's Draft Sixth Contaminant Candidate List
"AMWA and its member drinking water systems across the country share EPA's commitment to the integrity of the Safe Drinking Water Act's science-based processes for identifying and regulating contaminants that may pose risks to public health. The Candidate Contaminant List (CCL) is an important early step in that process, helping to identify and prioritize contaminants that may warrant further research, monitoring, and evaluation before the agency makes regulatory decisions."
"AMWA recognizes the CCL as a critical foundation of SDWA that allows the Agency to focus any future regulatory efforts on contaminants that meet the statutory criteria for regulation and present the greatest opportunity to protect public health."
"AMWA supports EPA's efforts to engage stakeholders through the release of the draft sixth CCL. The Association looks forward to reviewing the draft list and welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to the Agency as it moves forward."
The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) has been the unified and definitive voice for the nation's largest publicly owned water systems for over 40 years. AMWA's membership serves more than 160 million people with safe drinking water.
