America's Largest Flow Meter
This installation, for the Southern Nevada Water Authority, engineered by Carollo, Black & Veatch in association with Parsons Engineering, represents a massive program to improve the potable water supply and delivery to Las Vegas, Nevada and the surrounding region, using Lake Mead as the source of raw water.
Known as the Alfred Merrit Smith Water Treatment Facility-Ozone Addition project, measurement of the raw water intake is a key element of the operation of this plant. From the outset, close cooperation and preliminary engineering work performed by Primary Flow Signal, Inc. was essential to the development of the final design, not only of the metering system , but of critical importance, the model testing and engineering requirements that would guarantee that the final flow meter would perform according to the specification requirements of highly reliable and accurate flow measurement, today, tomorrow and into the next century.
The selection of Primary Flow Signal, Inc. to provide the 180 inch HVT-FV Fabricated Halmi Venturi meter for this project was and continues to be a great privilege and matter of great pride for Primary Flow Signal, Inc., its staff and everyone associated with the execution of this monumental and historic task.
