Amazon Filters Turns Round Emergency Order To Help Restore Drinkable Water

Process filter manufacturer Amazon Filters has turned round an urgent water company request to help restore drinkable tap water to around 20,000 homes and businesses in the southeast of England.
The Surrey-based firm mobilised and delivered an immediate supply of 225 filter cartridges on a one-day turnaround from its Camberley production centre, co-ordinating the response among its internal sales, stores, operations and logistics teams.
A further 225 were shipped two days later, with a further batch made ready for dispatch in the coming days in line with customer requirement.
The total order was for 900 cartridges, needed to help address a water quality issue at a treatment works.
Concerns over a disinfection process had necessitated a precautionary ‘boil water’ notice being issued to the public as the water quality was no longer meeting the strict regulatory standards required for consumption.
The cartridges involved in the response are all 40” SupaSpun II R31 Cryptosporidium Retentive, meaning their precision-graded density affords filtration at just one micron, guaranteed to remove the cryptosporidium parasite.
They are part of Amazon Filters’ SupaSpun II range of absolute-rated depth filter cartridges.
Made using sustainable polypropylene, SupaSpun II is on the approved list for use in the public water supply under the Drinking Water Inspectorate’s Regulation 31.
Since the filters were to be installed into a varied set of housings, the Amazon Filters responders readied the emergency order for dispatch by leveraging ‘double open ended’ stock, meaning they could be ‘end-capped’ at pace.
Lisa Astbury, Amazon Filters Sales Manager, said: “As soon as we received the order, we acted immediately to enable the operators to install the new cartridges and move to restore continuity of supply.
“Our response is a demonstration of our ‘quick and able’ approach to manufacturing and supply.
“The one-micron SupaSpun 900 filters help remove turbidity and contamination, supporting excellent water quality.”
