Landa, a leading manufacturer of water cleaning systems in Camas, Wash., has introduced a new energy-efficient, all-electric, wastewater evaporator.

The HBE--for Hot Box Electric--evaporator features eight high-efficiency, long-lasting, industrial coil-type 2600-watt heater elements, which evaporate wastewater at a rate of 6 to 8 gallons per hour. Combined wattage is 20.8 KW.

There are two models with the following electrical requirements: 230V 3ph 57 amps for model HBE-10B and 460V 3ph 28 amps for model HBE-10C.

Typical applications include minimizing a variety of waste streams, from mop water and machine coolant-water solutions to spent parts washer wastewater, which can cost as much as 50-cents or more per gallon to have hauled away.

Both models are capable of evaporating waste streams in either a batch process or continuous flow.

The HBE units are designed for convenience in maintenance and cleaning, including a 3-inch drain port for easy draining of the concentrate and an easy-to-open lid for total access to the slurry in the tank.

Other HBE features include:

-- Heavy-duty evaporation tank made of carbon steel with optional alloy upgrades to 316L or AL-6XN stainless steel;
-- Safety devices, such as two stainless steel floats and switches to prevent overflowing or a low water level, plus a redundant third float that backs up the automatic overflow protection, and floor-mounted sensors to continually monitor temperatures.
-- Optional pump and float control system for drawing wastewater from above-ground tanks to automate the handling of a waste stream;
-- Industrial, 12-hour timer for automatically turning the unit on and off for operator convenience and equipment protection;
-- Built-in exhaust fan with motor and bearing set off from the steam path so there is less exposure to moisture;
-- Optional motorized belt oil skimmer for automatically removing excess floating oils;
-- Double-lined and insulated exterior walls (including the lid) for energy efficiency and operator safety; and
-- High-limit thermocouple prevents wastewater from scorching the tank bottom.

Landa has been in business since 1969 and is internationally known for:

  • World's largest line of hot- and cold-water pressure with nearly 300 models;
  • Extensive line of automatic aqueous top-load, front-load and conveyor parts washers, including the world's only water-propelled spray bar; and
  • Environmental equipment line featuring high-efficiency industrial wastewater treatment and recycling systems.
