AFRY And Holinger Awarded Contract For A New Water Treatment Project In Berlin

AFRY, together with Holinger, has been commissioned by Berliner Wasserbetriebe to design a new ozone treatment stage – the fourth cleaning stage – at the Münchehofe wastewater treatment plant.

The Münchehofe plant is one of Berlin’s key wastewater treatment facilities, serving roughly 300,000 residents in Berlin’s eastern suburbs and its surrounding area. The new ozone treatment stage will significantly improve the plant’s capacity to remove micropollutants, supporting Berlin’s long term environmental and water quality objectives.

“This project is an important step in strengthening resilient and sustainable water treatment in one of Europe’s most vibrant metropolitan regions. Together with Holinger, we are proud to bring our multidisciplinary expertise to a project that supports cleaner waterways, enhanced environmental protection and long-term value for the community”, says Marcel Winter, Head of Segment Road & Rail, AFRY.

The implementation period extends from February 2026 to November 2032 and estimated order value for AFRY is approximately 20 MSEK.
