Advanced Ozone Disinfection – City Of Fayetteville, Arkansas

Fayetteville, Arkansas CS

The City of Fayetteville, Arkansas—recognized for its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship—recently upgraded the disinfection system at the Paul R. Noland Wastewater Treatment Facility to improve water quality and prepare for future regulatory requirements. The project reflects the city’s forward-thinking approach to protecting public health while minimizing environmental impact.

To modernize its treatment process, Fayetteville needed a system capable of delivering highly effective pathogen reduction while using fewer chemicals and less energy than traditional technologies. The new solution also needed to address emerging contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals and endocrine disruptors, while maintaining consistent performance under variable flow conditions. Equally important was the ability to integrate seamlessly with the facility’s existing infrastructure and support long-term operational efficiency.

To meet these goals, the city partnered with BlueInGreen, LLC, along with Pinnacle Ozone Solutions and PCI Gases, to implement a next-generation ozone disinfection system. The solution combines Pinnacle’s Zenith™ ozone generator platform, PCI’s on-site oxygen generation system, and BlueInGreen’s patented HyDOZ™ injection technology to deliver highly efficient ozone dissolution and contaminant removal.

The integrated system provides industry-leading mass transfer performance, automated process control, and modular scalability, allowing the facility to operate with improved reliability and a significantly smaller footprint than conventional ozone or UV disinfection systems.

Since implementation, the facility has achieved more than 99% disinfection efficiency while significantly reducing emerging contaminants. The upgrade has also delivered more than a 40% reduction in energy and operational costs, creating a sustainable, high-performance model for municipalities seeking modern wastewater treatment solutions.
