Acea Expands In Peru With Wastewater Treatment Contract In Lima

Acea Peru awarded the operation and maintenance of eight wastewater treatment plants in southern Lima, under a contract worth $ 4.5M

The award marks the company’s fourth contract in the past two years, bringing the total value of contracts awarded to Acea to €145M. The agreement further strengthens Acea’s presence in Latin America, where it already provides water services to around 10 million people.

Acea Peru, a company controlled by Acea International (100% Acea Acqua), has been awarded a contract for the operation and maintenance of eight wastewater treatment plants in Lima, with a total value of US$4.5M. The contract, awarded by Lima’s water utility Sedapal, is the fourth contract secured by the company over the past two years, bringing the total value of contracts awarded to Acea to €145M. The agreement further strengthens Acea’s presence in the southern part of the Peruvian capital and lays the foundations for further growth in the country.

The scope of the contract includes the maintenance and upkeep of the following treatment plants: San Bartolo, San Juan, Huáscar, José Gálvez, Julio C. Tello, San Pedro de Lurín, Pucusana and Santa María. The service also covers the pretreatment system and the Nuevo Lurín pumping station. These facilities play a critical role in the wastewater treatment system serving southern Lima. Ensuring their proper maintenance will help guarantee the continuity and efficiency of wastewater treatment, reduce pollution and its impact on surrounding communities, and promote the reuse of treated water.

Today, Acea provides water services to approximately 10 million people across Latin America, with more than 1,400 employees, primarily in Peru, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. In Peru, in particular, Acea already manages water and wastewater services in northern Lima through contracts awarded by Sedapal for the Comas area (first lot) and Callao (second lot), serving approximately 4 million people, as well as in central Lima. Acea is also the majority shareholder of the Agua Azul consortium, which is responsible for water abstraction and treatment activities in the Peruvian capital.
