DESCRIPTION AND USE

A-413 is a cobalt catalyzed technical grade of anhydrous sodium sulfite designed to react almost instantaneously with oxygen present in the boiler feedwater. By acting as an oxygen scavenger, the product is used to control corrosion and pitting caused by the presence of this dissolved gas.

CHEMICAL FEEDING AND CONTROL

A-413 is normally fed continuously to the deaerating heater or feedwater tank and must be mixed in a chemical feed tank utilizing an agitator to assure complete dissolving of the material. It may not be mixed with most common chemicals used for treatment or the catalyst will be deactivated. Steel, stainless steel or plastic may be used in the chemical feed system. Copper, copper alloys, and aluminum metallurgies for chemical feed system must be avoided.

A-413 is normally controlled by a sulfite test on the boiler water. Control ranges can vary widely depending upon both makeup water characteristics and system operating conditions and will be specified by the technical representative servicing the facility.

SAFETY AND HANDLING

A-413 may be toxic by ingestion. Do not take internally. If ingested, drink at least two (2) glasses of water and get medical attention. Contact with eyes causes irritation. If eyes are contacted, immediately flush with clear water for 15 minutes and if irritation persists, get medical attention. For skin contact, wash with soap and water. PACKAGING

A-413 is packaged in 100 and 200 pound, non-returnable fiber drums.
