Montreal, Canada — The Junta de Aguas y Drenaje (JAD) of the City of Matamoros in Mexico has chosen the Actiflo® Ballasted Floc Clarification technology for the upgrade of its water treatment plant No1. John Meunier will design and supply two Actiflo® clarifiers as well as one Actidyn® thickener and other accessory equipments.

The addition of these two Actiflo® clarifiers will increase the production capacity of the plant by 50%, from 800 LPS to 1200 LPS once the upgrade is completed. Furthermore, the selected technology will guarantee that the quality of produced water be constant and meet international standards and regulation regarding drinking water. John Meunier was awarded this contract following a thorough analysis conducted by JAD of the advantages pertaining to the proposed technologies.

Construction started in February and will be conducted without interruption in water production. “We are confidant that, by choosing John Meunier and the Actiflo® technology, we are insuring the success of the upgrade of our water treatment plant No1”, says Lic. Jesus de la Garza, gerente general of JAD.

The City of Matamoros, located in the province of Tamaulipas, has a population of 450,000 and takes its water from the Rio Bravo River.
