Wastewater Treatment Plant Makes A Successful Switch From UV To PAA To Disinfect Effluent

M3-metering-pump

Situated along the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky, the SD1 Western Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant faced a dilemma. Though equipped with a functional UV system, the influx of heavy industrial wastewater laden with contaminants posed significant disinfection challenges. The existing system was simply unable to reliably meet mandated disinfection requirements.

Collaborating with Pelton Environmental Products and Ohio Valley Service Solutions, the plant transitioned to a Duplex Skid System with Blue-White® FLEXFLO® M3 Peristaltic Metering Pumps, deploying Peracetic Acid (PAA). The organic PAA rapidly oxidizes, leaving minimal residuals, aligning with eco-friendly discharge. M3's versatile turn down range and minimal maintenance have ushered in an era of reliable wastewater disinfection, aligning with evolving regulations.
