The following is an excerpt from a Q&A with Water Online Radio. Click on the Radio Player above to hear the full interview.

Water Online Radio: Tell us more about Verder. What do you do? How do you serve your customers?

Paul: We’re the market leader in for positive displacement pumps, because we not only offer peristaltic hose pumps, but we have rotary lobe pumps, air diaphragm pumps – all PD pumps that solve problems; unlike our competitors, who just simply have one product to offer and they are going to squeeze all the applications into that one product.

Who is going to give you the right pump for the job?

Water Online Radio: Paul, talk a little bit about applications.

Paul: We are seeing this huge growth opportunity with sodium hypochlorite feed for water/wastewater, but really water. And so water treatment and chemicals is very good for us. Pumping clay, sand, and grit is a strong market for us – and these are wastewater-type applications.

Water Online Radio: What are your customers looking for in terms of technology?

Paul: Peristaltic hose pumps are unique because it is really just a hose that is being compressed, so your wear part is a rubber hose. And that technology is only as good as the hose. Our pump is a package: it has an electric motor, a gear box, and then our peristaltic hose pump. It’s really one moving part.

Our customers are looking for longevity. They want a better hose. And fortunately, we have captured a lot of our competitors’ market share because we have a better hose.
