WEF ranks #61 among small companies in the Washington, DC metropolitan area

The Washington Post has named the Water Environment Federation (WEF) as one of the top places to work in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Coming in at #61 among small companies, WEF was recognized as a reputable organization whose staff and members work toward a greater purpose—providing clean water and resource recovery for the protection of public health and the environment.

WEF achieves this goal in part by providing its Alexandria, Va.-based staff with a supportive work environment and healthy work-life balance that promotes productivity, minimizes turnover, and fosters employee satisfaction and professional development.

“This is the first time WEF has participated in a workplace competition and we are delighted with the outcome,” said WEF Executive Director Eileen O’Neill. “WEF staff represents the absolute best in our field. We take great pride in what we do but it’s gratifying to have substantiation that as an employer, WEF provides an environment that nurtures our employees, which in turn, positively impacts our members and helps further our shared mission.”

The employee survey, that is the foundation of the competition, is based solely on employee feedback obtained by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC (Exton, Pa.), a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and employee engagement. Each year, WorkplaceDynamics conducts regional Top Workplaces programs with 45 major publishing partners across the United States. Over the past year, more than 6,000 organizations and 1 in every 88 employees in the U.S. have turned to WorkplaceDynamics to better understand employee satisfaction.

“WEF is fortunate to attract top talent but what you don’t see until you join the staff is an embracing and inclusive culture, which is the true hallmark of its success and workplace philosophy,” added WEF’s Human Resources Director Jan Taylor. “In addition to feeling good about the important work that WEF and its members do each day, the Federation truly is a great place to begin or advance your career.”

The complete list of Top Workplaces ran in the Post’s June 21, 2015 edition.
