The Upside Of Auto-Tuning For DO Control

Wastewater treatment plant operators with poor dissolved oxygen (DO) control in the activated sludge process routinely de-tune their blower systems to avoid an expensive, energy-wasting overreaction. However, closer examination will likely reveal that the system is in a constant state of over- or under-aeration. Newer auto-tuning blower control technology, by comparison, can address daily swings and seasonal changes in diurnal loading as well shifting conditions presented by population growth.
